Background

Eversea is the consumer brand under the Canadian-based biotech company Solarvest BioEnergy whose algae production platform provides a flexible system capable of producing numerous products from omega-3 fatty acids to human therapeutic proteins. The first commercialized product is fish-free omega-3 which is the world’s only organic omega-3 supplement (DHA & EPA).

Overview

As the founding Marketing Manager, I led the development of Eversea brand from its formation to launching. My tasks evolved from market research to brand building and GTM strategies.

Details

One of the key challenges we faced was differentiating our product from traditional fish-based supplements, making our unique selling points—being fish-free and environmentally friendly—clear and compelling.

I spearheaded an omnichannel marketing approach that leveraged digital platforms, PR (1, 2), and partnerships to engage with the audiences, enhance our brand's credibility, and expand our network. Throughout my tenure, I used Adobe CC for design tasks, built websites on WordPress and Shopify, and set up our e-commerce store on Amazon. To analyze and improve business performance, I mostly utilized SEO and SEM strategies on Google and Amazon.

Outcome

Our targeted approach successfully positioned the fish-free omega-3 supplement as a leading alternative in the market, appealing to health-conscious consumers and environmentally-minded individuals. During my tenure, thousands of products reached customers' hands and were loved by many families across the US and China.
